Dental Care When Traveling

Posted .

Dental care on the road does not have to be a difficult thing. In fact, with a little planning, you can make sure your smile says healthy and bright, no matter where you are bound.

First, you can’t take us with you when you are on vacation or traveling on business, but you can take our phone number. That way, if you find yourself in the midst of a dental emergency such as a toothache or an accident, you can get in touch with us. We can help you find a dentist wherever you are that can help you remedy the problem.

You can also make sure that you have everything you need to maintain proper oral hygiene. That means packing your toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. Using a toothbrush cover is a good idea to keep dirt and contaminants away from it, but before you put the cover on, you should make sure that your toothbrush is free of food debris, and that the bristles are dry. It’s also important that you keep your cap on your toothpaste when you travel and to make sure that it is clean as well. To keep contamination from becoming a problem store your dental items together and in their own container, not in a purse or the pocket of a suitcase. And, keep everyone’s toothbrushes separate so that the bacteria in one person’s mouth will not contaminate another’s.

After you brush your teeth at your hotel, take your toothbrush and toothpaste out of the bathroom. That area is a prime breeding ground for bacteria. Since it is a good idea to replace your toothbrush at least every three months, you may want to purchase a new toothbrush when you come home, or purchase a disposable toothbrushes for your trip.
